High School Health
Students will take Health Education in ninth and tenth grade. These courses are State requirements as well as graduation requirements. The courses are a semester and students will earn .5 credit upon earning a passing grade for the semester. The topics and lessons are age appropriate and aligned with the 2021 Healthy and Balanced Living Curriculum Framework. Topics include information about first aid, substance abuse, prevention of diseases, growth and development, mental health and nutrition. Also included are lessons on stress management and peer pressure.
As Sophomores, the students will have an option regarding how they take their Health Credit. Students who elect to take Project Adventure, will be automatically enrolled in Health as well. Project Adventure and Health share the instructional block. P.A. / Health are a full year class. Each class is a .5 credit. Students who take the traditional Sophomore P.E "Fitness" Curriculum will need to enroll separately into a semester Health as well.
