Elementary Mathematics

The North Haven mathematics curriculum, based on the Common Core State Standards, challenges students while teaching them valuable skills needed for everyday life.  Curriculum resources used at the elementary school level include Math in Focus, Math in Practice, iReady, and Everyday Counts Calendar Math. 

The teaching and learning of mathematics begins in a math rich environment. The activities, tasks, and discourse provide a framework for the development of mathematical skills in all learners.  Mathematical strength leads to learners that exhibit conceptual and procedural understandings and who can communicate thinking mathematically.  Our goal is to foster learners who can reason logically, problem solve, and persevere to work through real-life problem solving situations.
