National Chinese Honor Society
 

Eligibility criteria: 

 

In order to be selected as a member of the North Haven High School Chapter of the Chinese National Honor Society, a student must be a full time high school student (grades 9-12) who has studied Chinese for four semesters in high school with an average of B or higher. A qualified candidate is someone who is willing to work with the school chapter advisor, as well as with other students, to serve as a positive role model in the area of Chinese studies. National French Honor Society 

Société Honoraire de Français

The National French Honor Society, la Société Honoraire de Français, was established in 1949 by the American Association of Teachers of French with the purpose of recognizing the achievements of outstanding French students across the country.  Well over 4,000 chapters have been established and the chapter of North Haven High School being one of them, established in 1998.

Eligibility criteria: 

 

In order to be selected as a member of the North Haven High School Chapter of the French National Honor Society, a student must be a junior or senior in their fourth or fifth year of French, have a 90% or above in French for 3 marking terms prior to selection and have an overall “B” average.

 

National Italian Honor Society 

La Società Onoraria Italica

The Italian National Honor Society for High School Students—is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Italian. The purpose of the program is to recognize achievements in Italian as well as to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of Italian culture and civilization. The society recognizes outstanding students in the area of scholarship and citizenship.  Students are recognized through the wearing of a tri-colored cord at graduation, and the right to wear the official pin of the honor society. In addition, there is the opportunity for students to experience leadership in serving as officers, directing the initiation ceremony, and/or leading other events.

Eligibility criteria: 

In order to be selected as a new member of the North Haven High School Chapter of the Italian National Honor Society, a student must meet the requirements which are:  Students must have a 90 or above cumulative average in Italian, as well as an 80 overall GPA and be enrolled in an Italian class.

National Latin Honor Society 

NJCL Latin Honor Society

The National Junior Classical League is an organization for middle and high school students in classical courses. NJCL proudly holds the honor of being one of the largest academic youth organizations in the world. There are over 50,000 members in approximately 1,200 chapters, located in almost every state and in several foreign countries. Established in 1936, the organization seeks to promote the study of Latin and Greek. 

Eligibility criteria:

To be eligible for membership in the North Haven High School chapter of the NJCL Latin Honor Society, students must maintain a 93 in the current Latin course and exemplify good citizenship.

National Spanish Honor Society   

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

 
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school juniors and seniors enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). Currently, there are almost 3,000 national and international chapters of the SHH. The mission of the North Haven Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize outstanding academic achievement in Spanish and to promote interest in Hispanic studies.

 

Eligibility criteria:

In order to be selected as a new member of the North Haven High School Chapter of the Spanish National Honor Society, a student must meet the requirements which are:  Students must have a 90 or above cumulative average in Spanish, as well as an 80 overall GPA and be enrolled in a Spanish class.
