North Haven's Continum of Services
Special Education Programs
North Haven Public School offers unique special education programs for students who require intense support due to severe learning and behavioral challenges. One program is called Intensive Learning Services and the other is Therapeutic Learning Services. The Intensive Learning Service program is located at Ridge Road Elementary School, North Haven Middle School, and North Haven High School. Therapeutic Learning Service program is located at Montowese Elementary School, North Haven Middle School, and North Haven High School.
Intensive Learning Services is designed to meet the needs of students with severe learning challenges. All students are members of their general education class. Students receive individual or small group instruction in the areas of academic development, speech and language development, social skill development, occupational and physical therapy development, independent development, and behavior management development per their Individualized Educational Plan. Registered Behavior Technicians do work with students who require a higher level of adult support throughout the school day. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst consults and provides services to the student and school team.
Therapeutic learning services are designed to meet the needs of students with severe emotional and behavioral challenges. Students are included in general education classes as appropriate and to the maximum extent possible. Students receive whole group, small group, and individual instruction per their Individualized Educational Plan. Class wide and individual behavior plans are implemented. A district wide school psychologist is solely assigned to the students in this program to develop each their behavior and social emotional skills. Registered Behavior Technicians do work with students who require a higher level of adult support throughout the school day. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst consults and provides services to the student and school team.
