The Feast of Corpus Christi commemorates the Eucharist and is celebrated by Roman Catholics and Christians since 1246. The name 'Corpus Christi' is Latin for 'the body of Christ'. This holiday is also known as the “Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ” because it celebrates the real presence of the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ which appear in the elements of the Eucharist. The Eucharist is a time of worship where people can come together as one body in remembrance of the life and works of Jesus Christ.

Corpus Christi occurs on the first Thursday following Trinity Sunday and is known as the Day of Thanksgiving for the Institution of Holy Communion. Although some countries celebrate it the Sunday after Trinity Sunday, Corpus Christi usually takes place every year between late May and the middle of June.

The Feast of Corpus Christi is generally celebrated by going to mass and receiving Communion. The mass tends to be elaborate and can feature saints and historical figures from the Bible. In some countries the consecrated bread is paraded throughout the streets to show that the sacrifice of Christ was for the salvation of everybody.
