Holy Saturday is always the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday in the Christian liturgical calendar. This holiday celebrates the 40-hour-long vigil that the followers of Jesus Christ held after his death and burial on Good Friday and before his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Holy Saturday is the last day of Lent and of the Holy Week.
Many Christians worldwide observe Holy Saturday by remembering it as the day when Jesus lay in the tomb. It is a day of both sadness and joy among Christians in many cultures. Many churches hold an Easter vigil service and discuss the meaning behind the rituals, prayer and symbols that are all part of the Easter vigil. Some churches also hold large baptism services on this day.
