Good Friday is the Friday before Easter and is considered the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Good Friday is observed as a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting in remembrance of Jesus Christ's sacrifices.
The death of Christ on the cross—along with his bodily resurrection—is the paramount event of the Christian faith. Many Christian churches celebrate Good Friday with a service in which Christ’s death is remembered with solemn hymns, prayers of thanksgiving, a message centered on Christ’s suffering for their sakes, and observance of the Lord’s Supper.
