Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter. It is believed to be that on this day Jesus celebrated his final Passover with his disciples. The Passover meal was when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples in an extraordinary display of humility. He then commanded them to do the same for each other. Maundy Thursday also known as “Christ's Mandate” commemorates a new commandment given to the people from Christ. It was during Maundy Thursday that Christ instructed his disciples, “just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

Although there is not one specific service order to observe this holiday, many churches join together for Communion and other common church services.
